The Oracle/PLSQL COMPOSE function returns the Unicode string.
Oracle PLSQL COMPOSE function syntax
COMPOSE( string_id )
Parameters and function arguments
- string_id – is an input value used to create a Unicode string. It can be a varchar2, NCHAR, NVARCHAR2, CLOB or NCLOB character.
The COMPOSE function returns a Unicode string.
Note:
The following is a list of unistring values that are combined with other characters in the COMPOSE function.

| unistr(‘\0300’) | apostrophe ( ` ) |
| unistr(‘\0301’) | accent ( ? ) |
| unistr(‘\0302’) | circumflex ( ^ ) |
| unistr(‘\0303’) | tilde ( ~ ) |
| unistr(‘\0308’) | dieresis ( ? )f |
The COMPOSE function can be used in the following versions of Oracle/PLSQL
Oracle 12c, Oracle 11g, Oracle 10g, Oracle 9i

SQL> SELECT COMPOSE('o' || unistr('\0308') ) FROM DUAL;
--Result: ö
SQL> SELECT COMPOSE('a' || unistr('\0302') ) FROM DUAL;
--Result: â
SQL> SELECT COMPOSE('e' || unistr('\0301') ) FROM DUAL;
--Result: é
