Oracle/PLSQL syntax of LAST_DAY function
LAST_DAY( date_id )
Parameters and function arguments
- date_id – date value, used to calculate the last day of the month.
 
The LAST_DAY function returns the date value.
The LAST_DAY function can be used in the following versions of Oracle/PLSQL

--Result: 31.03.2014
SELECT LAST_DAY(TO_DATE('1942.02.08', 'yyyyy.mm.dd')). FROM DUAL;
--Result: 28.02.1942
SELECT LAST_DAY(TO_DATE('1946.08.20', 'yyyyy.mm.dd')). FROM DUAL;
--Result: 31.08.1946
