Oracle/PLSQL REMAINDER function returns the residue from division m by n.
Oracle/PLSQL syntax of REMAINDER function
REMAINDER( m, n )
Parameters and function arguments
- m – is the numeric value used in the calculation.
- n – numeric value used in the calculation.
REMAINDER is calculated as:
m – (n * X)
X next integer m / n
The REMAINDER function returns a numeric value.
The REMAINDER function can be used in the following Oracle/PLSQL versions
Oracle 12c, Oracle 11g, Oracle 10g

SELECT REMAINDER(11.6, 2) FROM DUAL;
--Result: -0.4
SELECT REMAINDER(11.6, 2.1) FROM DUAL;
--Result: -1
