Preamble
Oracle/PLSQL USERENV function is used to get information about the current Oracle session. Although this function still exists in Oracle for backward compatibility, it is recommended to use the sys_context function instead.
Oracle/PLSQL function syntax USERENV
USERENV( parameter_id )
Parameters or arguments
- parameter_id – value returned from the current Oracle session.
Possible values:
| Parameter | Explanation |
| CLIENT_INFO | Returns user session information saved using the DBMS_APPLICATION_INFO package |
| ENTRYID | Available audit record identifier |
| INSTANCE | Identification number of the current copy |
| ISDBA | Returns TRUE if the user has DBA privileges. Otherwise, it will return FALSE |
| LANG | ISO shortening for language |
| LANGUAGE | Language, territory and character of the session in the following format: language_territory.characterset |
| SESSIONID | Audit session identifier |
| TERMINAL | Current session OS Identifier |
The USERENV function can be used in the following versions of Oracle/PLSQL
Oracle 12c, Oracle 11g, Oracle 10g, Oracle 9i, Oracle 8i
