Preamble
The PostgreSQL lower function converts all characters of a specified string into a lower case.
Syntax of lower function in PostgreSQL
lower( string )
Parameters and function arguments
- string – A string to be converted to lower case.
Note:
- If there are characters in a string that are not letters, the lower function does not affect them.
The lower function can be used in the following versions of PostgreSQL
PostgreSQL 11, PostgreSQL 10, PostgreSQL 9.6, PostgreSQL 9.5, PostgreSQL 9.4, PostgreSQL 9.3, PostgreSQL 9.2, PostgreSQL 9.1, PostgreSQL 9.0, PostgreSQL 8.4.
Consider some examples of the lower function to understand how to use the lower function in PostgreSQL.
For example:
SELECT lower('Google Amazon Bing');
--Result: "google amazon bing"
SELECT lower('Google.com is #1');
--Result: "google.com is #1"
