Q: How do I change the password for a user in Oracle?
A: In order to change a user’s password in Oracle, you must execute the ALTER USER command.
Syntax for changing user password in Oracle
ALTER USER user_name IDENTIFIED BY new_password;
Parameters and arguments of the command:
- user_name – The user whose password you want to change.
- new_password – New assigned password
Consider an example of how to change the password for a user in Oracle/PLSQL
ALTER USER stan IDENTIFIED BY s1a2n;
This example will change the password for a user named stan and set a new password of s1a2n.
